Bound Through Air: AIRNSHARE #2

CollActive Materials, Cluster of Excellence »Matters of Activity« | Doris Dziersk, Léa Perraudin, Martin Müller

Exhibition Finissage & Participatory Art Performance

Air acts as a collective, active, and intelligent material. By means of air, the outcome of the climate crisis and the possible futures of our coexistence will be decided. Can air connect us in the future?

Finissage, from 6 pm
CollActive Materials invites you to the closing of their first-ever exhibition »Airbound«, which showcases climate fictions and speculative everyday scenarios, developed in an open process by collaborators from society, science, and design. During the evening, curators Léa Perraudin and Martin Müller will share their thoughts looking back on the first ever exhibition by CollActive Materials.

Participatory Performance AIRNSHARE #2, from 7 pm, ca. 45 min
On the special occasion of this closing night, the visual artist and scenographer Doris Dziersk invites the exhibition visitors to participate in building a community sculpture made from air. In her work »AIRNSHARE #2«, the visitors become part of the artwork: The participants will be jointly inflating an interactive sculpture by breathing together. Through collecting the common breath of the participants, their life forces are gathered. Unlike the first edition of AIRNSHARE, which was dedicated to joining the differences and ambivalences of Berlin housing, AIRNSHARE #2 focuses on the process of breathing together, whereby the sculpture remains porous and never reaches a final state.

About CollActive Materials
CollActive Materials is an experimental laboratory of the Berlin Clusters of Excellence »Matters of Activity« (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin) and »Science of Intelligence« (Technische Universität Berlin), funded by the Berlin University Alliance. The aim of the project is to develop Speculative Design as a new approach for knowledge exchange between research, society, and design, thus making joint encounters possible at eye level. As an experimental, transdisciplinary project, CollActive Materials brings material everyday practices from diverse social contexts into open conversation with approaches in research.
