Dr. Müller is a Professor of Biomechanics and the Director of the Institute for Biomechanics at ETH Zürich in Switzerland. He studied electrical engineering at ETH Zürich, where he also received his doctoral degree. After a four-year stay at Harvard Medical School in Boston, finally working as an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, he returned to ETH Zürich in 2000. His research employs biomechanical testing and simulation techniques as well as novel bioimaging and visualization strategies for musculoskeletal tissue regeneration. A prolific and highly cited author, Dr. Müller has received numerous awards and was elected as a member of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences, and as a Fellow of the European Alliance for Medical and Biological Engineering and Science, the World Council of Biomechanics, and the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research. He is also a co-founder of three spin-off companies, most recently CompagOs, a biotechnology company engineering personalized bone organoids.
