The Chancellor of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Before he served as the Hebrew University’s President, a position he held for eight years. Prior to serving as President, he was a Member of the Israeli Parliament (the Knesset), where he served as Chairman of the Knesset’s Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, and headed the Knesset Lobby for Higher Education and drafted a constitution for the state (never voted).From 2012-2015, he represented the Hebrew University as Chairman of the Council of University Presidents in Israel. During his tenure, he promoted the role of universities as engines of growth in civil society and as incubators for elite leaders. Prof. Ben-Sasson is a scholar in the Department of the History of the Jewish People, in the Faculty of Humanities. A historian of the heritage of Jews in Muslim Lands. He husband to Med. Dr. Ada Ben-Sasson, father of three and grandfather of 9. Currently a fellow in Einstein Berlin Center Chronoi.
