Hanna Hörnberg

2023

Hanna Hörnberg is a neuroscientist who leads the “Molecular and cellular mechanisms of behavior” group at Max Delbrück Center. Her group is interested in understanding the biology underlying social and emotional behaviors in health and disease. Sex differences play a prominent role in all neurological conditions. Despite this, male rodents are still predominantly used for all research, and this male bias might contribute to some of the sex and gender-based health disparities we still face. In her lab, researchers use both male and female mice in all their projects, and they have ongoing projects that specifically focus on identifying sex-specific factors linked to symptom development in autism and depression.
