Felix Becker’s paintings are made up of different layers of oil paint, each covering the entire canvas. The combination of thick impasto and monochrome colors draws attention to the bumps and marks in the surface. Rough modeling and smallest injuries are decisions the artist makes with the still-wet paint. They create not only extra-pictorial narratives, but ultimately highlight the materiality of the paint as the actual protagonist. Felix Becker, born 1987 in Frankfurt a. M., studied at the Berlin University of the Arts with Prof. Valérie Favre and graduated 2021 as a Meisterschüler with Prof. Thomas Zipp. He lives and works in Berlin.
