Christoph Schneider obtained his doctorate in 1998 and habilitation in 2004 at the University of Freiburg. In the following years, he became a Professor of Physical Geography and Climatology at the Institute of Geography at RWTH Aachen University, served as Executive Director of the Institute of Geography, and from 2010-2014 as Dean of Studies of the Faculty of Georesources and Materials Engineering at RWTH Aachen University. In 2015, Christoph Schneider became Professor of Climate Geography at the Humboldt University of Berlin. There, he continued to serve as Executive Director of the Institute of Geography. Since August 2021, he acts as Vice President for Research at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and is a member of he Executive Board of the Berlin University Alliance. As a co-founder of Scientists for Future, a geographer, and a climate scientist, sustainability and climate action are particularly important to him. He is therefore devoting more of his research to the effects of climate change on glaciers as well as on the urban climate.
