Wolfgang R. Hess

Professor for Genetics and Experimental Bioinformatics at the University of Freiburg, Germany and head of the Institute of Biology. Prof. Hess studied Marine Ecology and Biology at the University of Rostock and Humboldt-University Berlin, worked as post-doctoral fellow at the Observatoire Océanologique de Roscoff, CNRS, France, as visiting scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, U.S. and as Funding Director of the Ocean Genome Legacy Foundation in Beverly, U.S. Prof. Hess has been collaborating with Israeli scientists for a long time; he performed research at the Marine Institute in Eilat, visited the Weizmann Institute of Science, the Technion in Haifa, the Bar-Ilan University and the Hebrew University in the frame of joint research projects funded by GIF, the German Israeli Foundation.
