Túllio da Silva Maia is a post-doc researcher at the „Department of Human Geography, Planning and International Development“ (GPIO) of the University of Amsterdam. With a mixed background in biology and social sciences, his research interests include political geography, decolonial studies, and multispecies ethnography. As a member of the research group Animapolis, he has been thinking methodologically how infrastructures designed through or around rats and dogs inform economic, social, and racial inequalities in the urban spaces of Rio de Janeiro and Amsterdam. Past experiences include observing the engagement between mosquitoes and diverse communities in Brazil. Ultimately, Tullio is interested in how colonial endeavours are producers of climatic changes and of species themselves, such as mosquitoes, rats, and dogs as ‘troubling’ to people and their co-produced spaces.
