Dr. Lydia Rhyman is an early career researcher in the Computational Chemistry Group at the University of Mauritius. Having earned a PhD in Computational Chemistry from the University of Mauritius in 2013, she is currently undertaking a second post-doctoral research position at the University of Mauritius in collaboration with the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. Her research focuses on the application of Computational Chemistry, a rapidly emerging field that addresses chemically related issues through computer-assisted methodologies using specialized software. Besides her interest in research, Dr. Rhyman is active in the organisation of conferences, seminars, workshops and in outreach activities. Her aims are to promote Computational Chemistry in Africa, to raise awareness on research integrity, particularly among young African scientists and to promote science education among girls in secondary schools.
