Has been Professor of Practical Theology, with a focus on homiletics, liturgics and poimenics, at Ruhr-Universität Bochum since 2001. She was awarded her PhD degree in Kiel in 1995 and completed her habilitation in Bonn in 2000. Isolde Karle holds the directorial position at the Institute for Religion and Society, founded in 2015. In addition, she’s a member of various research societies and is involved in a number of conferences and consortiums of the Evangelical Church in Germany. Her research interests include gender and diversity studies, sociology of religion, spiritual care and professional theory. Since November 2021, Prof. Dr. Karle has been serving as the Vice-Rector for Diversity, Inclusion, and Talent Development at Ruhr-University Bochum.
