Dr. Nasibeh Haghighi is a project leader at ams-Osram where she works on laser chip development for advanced sensing systems. For her dissertation at the Technical University (TU) Berlin, she performed groundbreaking research on semiconductor vertical cavity surface emitting laser arrays, uncovering new device physics and fabrication methods, and shattering records in speed, power, and energy efficiency – thus enabling the development of a new class of highly practical optical wireless communication systems. Prior to joining Osram, she was a scientist at the Ferdinand Braun Institute in Berlin. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry from Razi University and the University of Kurdistan, both in Iran, and a doctorate in physics from TU Berlin. She will receive the Marthe Vogt Prize 2023 for her outstanding doctoral thesis.
