EARA Conference 2025 - Day One

European Animal Research Association, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Max Delbrück Center

Shaping the future of animal research communication.

Now that many countries worldwide are embracing openness and transparency in animal research, our conference will explore the next steps to improve the sector’s approach to communication with the public and develop its understanding of this important topic.

The EARA Conference 2025 brings together leading voices in science communication, policy, and biomedical research to explore how transparency and public trust in animal research can be strengthened. With an audience of researchers, communicators, patient groups, and decision-makers, the event features a two-day programme of keynotes, panel sessions, and flash talks.

Day 1 focuses on media engagement and legal frameworks, with keynote speaker Fiona Fox (Science Media Centre, UK) opening the programme. Sessions include ‘Effective Science Communication and Media’, chaired by Fiona Fox, with contributions from journalists and social media experts, followed by ‘Communicating Ethics and Legal Frameworks’, chaired by Lucy Côte (Canada), covering topics such as the 3Rs, non-animal methods and genetically altered animals.
