Our Precious Resources

An interactive game designing choices for sustainable resource use

Our identity as a human race today is dependent on how we relate to resources, the way we interact with them, and reshape them to create the material world we live in. Meanwhile, human-caused climate change has long become a part of our reality. It poses perhaps the biggest challenge humankind has faced in the recent past. The threat of climate change and the resulting transformations question our current relationship with nature and resources.

To address these challenges, a group of researchers, journalists, artists, and social entrepreneurs met in Berlin and Brandenburg as part of the Humboldt Residency Programme. They explored the connections between global ecological urgency, political volatility, and societal conditions to foster a conversation between stakeholders in science and beyond, designed to highlight new concepts or discover clues to a better future.

In this interactive event, participants from the audience take on the roles of various choice architects seeking to make decisions on sustainable consumer behavior and the use of resources, navigating conflicting interests and goals. Meanwhile the audience acts as the society interfering in the debate in real time: Who do they agree with most? Who do they vote out of office?
Participants of the Humboldt Residency Programme, Evelyn de Oliveira Araripe (researcher and educator) and Christopher Schrader (journalist) will guide through the event.
