Romi Makaya

Romi Makaya is a microbiologist and Scientific Director of Station Hyphae, an applied research lab and pilot production unit dedicated to mycelium in architecture and design. He holds a Master's degree in molecular microbial mechanisms (University of Rouen, 2021) and has worked with CNRS, INSERM and CEA, with experience spanning fungal phytopathology, bioinformatics and physico-chemical characterisation. At Station Hyphae, he oversees the scientific rigour behind the lab's mycelium research, from strain selection to material characterisation.
