Michael Schmuker
Michael Schmuker is an expert in the neuroscience of the sense of smell. Since his PhD in Chemistry he was fascinated by the neural circuits behind the brain's remarkable ability to turn infinite variations of odourous chemicals into complex percepts of smell and taste. Until 2023 he was Professor of Neural Computation at the University of Hertfordshire in the UK, where he still holds a visiting professorship. He now works in science management with Helmholtz Association in Berlin, and also operates as a freelance science consultant in AI & Data Science. In his free time he enjoys rocking out on his guitar.
