The Art & Science Breakfast
Start your day with the art-science community. Hosted by Berlin Science Week and Haus der Kulturen der Welt, the Art & Science Breakfast brings together artists, researchers and curators for a relaxed morning of conversation and new connections, ahead of the Practitioner’s Route.
This breakfast is by invitation only. If you work in the field and think you should be at the table, but have not heard from us, please get in touch at events@berlinscienceweek.com. We cannot promise a place, but we would love to hear from you and will do our best to invite you.
The Practitioner’s Route
Already working in art and science, or looking to grow your practice? On Saturday, 7 November, our Practitioner’s Route links the field’s current debates with opportunities to collaborate. Key sessions to follow through the day:
- Art & Science Opening Panel: Tracing Art & Science from the 1990s to Today (12:00): From speculative futures to critical reflection: 30 years of art and science, with Christina Landbrecht, Giulia Bini and Christian Rauch.
- Fertile Void | Along, Across, and Against the Grain (13:00): Straight after the opening panel, HKW continues the conversation with a keynote on how beings emerge from and return to the virtual.
- Touching Boundaries (14:30): Art Laboratory Berlin asks what drives art and science collaboration.
- Europe needs a Plan: Science & Arts in the AI Age (16:00): Our highlight, presented by Archipelago of Possible Futures. Can Europe build its future on rented intelligence? Could its new AI Factories become Bauhaus-style ateliers for artists and scientists? With Francesca Bria, José Luis de Vicente, Olafur Eliasson, Tommaso Calarco and Bettina Kames.
- Is the Personal Generative? (17:00): Forecast invites you to a discussion on how subjectivity and curiosity become a creative force.
- Investigating the Kill Cloud: When Warfare Tests Tech on Civilians (19:30): The Disruption Network Lab asks what happens when warfare becomes a testing ground for technologies that reach us all.
- Cells’ Ears (21:00): A performance that brings living heart cells and sound together, followed by an open conversation.
