Forecast hosts Fiona Raby: Designing When Spacetime Is Doomed
Designer Fiona Raby will discuss how design can be seen as a tool to ask questions about the kinds of worlds we want to live in, and to engage with multiple imaginations.
“When we recently tried to explain what we do to a colleague of ours in the humanities, he said, ‘Oh, so you design for non existent worlds?’” says Raby. “We hadn’t thought of it like that, but yes! I think that’s pretty much what we do. At Dunne & Raby, we think of it as designing for the ‘Not Here, Not Now’.”
Raby, who was a mentor at Forecast Mentorships’ 2024-25 edition, will share her insights on the role of expertise in exploring the unknown and contradictory, and knowledge transfer among peers through common imagining. Followed by a conversation with Forecast's Executive Editor, Hili Perlson.
