Visitor Information

The main entrance is located on John-Foster-Dulles-Allee. This is the main access and information point, and we kindly ask all visitors to enter through here. 

Two further access points are available: 

• The Northern Entrance, on Bettina-von-Arnim-Ufer (Spree side) 
• The Eastern Entrance, on John-Foster-Dulles-Allee 

Gender-neutral toilets are available, and all are wheelchair accessible.

All exhibition and event spaces are wheelchair accessible. In some cases, it may be necessary to contact a volunteer on site to help facilitate access via elevator. 

A floor guidance system is available to guide visitors outside the building, glass panels are marked, and elevators are equipped with Braille. The Berlin Science Week exhibition stands are not specifically equipped with materials for partially sighted or blind visitors, but all stands have personnel on hand to explain content. 

There is no parking available directly at HKW. We encourage the use of public transport.

The U5 and the 100 bus are the most direct, barrier-free routes to HKW.

• The U5 brings you to the "Bundestag" stop, which has lift access. From there, head westward to reach the step-free Eastern Entrance (Nawal El Saadawi Entrance) or Northern Entrance (the Sharmila Rage Entrance), by the restaurant on the Spree side.
   
• The 100 bus brings you to the "Haus der Kulturen der Welt" stop, directly in front of HKW on John-Foster-Dulles-Allee. The main entrance (the Itō Noe Entrance) has step-free access.

This year's Berlin Science Week is taking place on 1-10 November 2026. 

• Events by partners in our Citywide Programme are taking place across all 10 days of the festival, from 1-10 November 2026. 
   
• The Festival Centre at Haus der Kulturen der Welt is open from 6–8 November 2026. 

Berlin Science Week is a 10-day celebration spread across the city, taking place at one central Festival Centre and at venues with events hosted by partners across Berlin.

Most events in the festival programme are free. All events in the Festival Centre HKW are free, but you are asked to book a free 3-Day Festival Centre Pass in advance. Book yours here. Citywide events are managed independently by each host, please check their listing for access details.

Please book your free Festival Centre Pass in advance in order to avoid long queues at the entrance. Those who didn’t manage, can also get a pass on-site at the Festival Centre. Book yours here. 

Not at all. Berlin Science Week is open to anyone curious about how science shapes the world around us. There are programme options for adults and children alike.

Workshops have limited capacity, so we ask that you make a reservation in advance if you want to ensure you get a seat. The individual event page will lead you to a page where you can reserve your seat. Reservations are only valid with a free 3-Day Festival Centre Pass, so make sure to grab yours at checkout!

The stop ‘Haus der Kulturen der Welt’ is served by several river tour operators. 

Bike and scooter sharing: 
HKW is located within many bike and scooter sharing operators’ zones. 
 

Yes. The HKW restaurant Weltwirtschaft will be open, and we'll have a food truck for you to grab a bite or coffee during the festival.

Yes. HKW has public wifi.

Yes. There is a free coat check in the foyer area of the Festival Centre.

The only events where we can guarantee a spot are workshops. To reserve your seat, use the link on the event listing and get your free 3-Day Festival Centre Pass with it. 

For everything else, some stages may fill up, but we have 6 stages running simultaneously plus exhibition stands in the foyer, so you're bound to find something else worth your time. 

If your plans change, please cancel your reservation as soon as you can, so we're able to offer your spot to someone else who'd like to attend. To cancel your reservation, please click the link in your Festival Centre Pass confirmation email labeled “change your reservation”.

All the events listed on our website are part of our official programme. Most citywide events also have visible on-site branding, such as posters or cubes at their venues, to showcase that they are part of Berlin Science Week.

Citywide events are hosted and managed independently by our partners. If a listed event is changed or cancelled, this is at the discretion of the host, please check the individual event listing or contact the host directly for the latest information.
