Sustainable Packaging for a Better Future

"Packaging: Problem or Solution?" Packaging helps keep food fresh for months, but it often harms the environment. How can we find a balance?

This event will be led by Prof. Dr. Selcuk Yildirim, an expert in sustainable packaging and head of the Food Packaging Research Group at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences. During this presentation, you will explore the environmental challenges of traditional packaging and innovative sustainable ways to address these issues. 

Expect to learn about:

  • Environmental Problems: Major environmental problems caused by current packaging solutions, including plastic waste, pollution, and excessive resource use will be highlighted.
  • Sustainable Strategies: Different strategies to reduce the environmental impact of packaging will be presented. These approaches range from biodegradable materials to circular packaging designs and new technologies that aim to minimize waste while maintaining safety and quality standards. 
  • Sustainable Packaging Materials: Examples of sustainable packaging materials from research will be showcased.
