The Shapes of Science: Creating Visual Connections

European Molecular Biology Laboratory

How can art & science spark global understanding? Join our workshop and discover how transforming complex scientific ideas into accessible visuals challenges assumptions and fosters meaningful dialog.

This workshop integrates the realms of art and science, showcasing how scientific concepts and unique visual language can come together to foster global understanding. Participants are invited to step out of their echo chambers by translating complex scientific information into simple artworks. This process challenges assumptions and biases, promoting a fresh approach to scientific communication.

Emphasising the importance of empirical evidence, the workshop also creates a space for conversations about the various factors influencing visual communication on the topic of planetary health.

By focusing on the interconnectedness of planetary issues through the "Molecules to Ecosystems" concept, it highlights the shared challenges and solutions that link us globally and locally, stressing the need for collective action and shared responsibility.

By integrating art and science, we aim to broaden appreciation for different visual perspectives and foster common ground for meaningful dialogue. The workshop serves as a reminder of the crucial role of visual communication in promoting an informed and collaborative society, aligning with the festival’s mission to reconnect with the empirical foundations of science and celebrate its contribution to our shared understanding and progress.
