Lex Ecologicae
Through a performative lecture, artist/researcher Jol Thoms brings together ecology, art, science, and law to explore how nature is represented, and governed, across history and contemporary policy.
Developed during a research residency "NaturArchy Mapping Framework: 500 Years of International Law" at the European Commission Joint Research Centre, Lex Ecologicae is a rich constellation of essays, interviews, bibliographies, and visual research examining legal, scientific, and artistic “Representations of Nature”. The project investigates how multimodal understandings of space and place can support the EU’s nature restoration ambitions and contribute to the protection of ecosystems and the global climate.
