Hidden Research: A Performance and Discussion on Academic Freedom
The event Hidden Research: A Performance and Discussion on Academic Freedom fosters dialogue around the critical issues of academic freedom and how this relates to society. The event will commence with a thought-provoking performance of the theater project Hidden Research. The performance draws upon interviews with at risk and refugee scholars from around the globe and features powerful narratives that highlight the unique challenges these researchers encounter, such as persecution, displacement, and the struggle to continue their vital work in the face of adversity. By bringing these stories to life, the performance will serve as a poignant reminder of the stakes involved in defending academic freedom and the pursuit of knowledge.
The performance will be followed by a discussion with an academic freedom expert and the audience on how academic freedom has an effect on people's lives. The audience is invited to share their thoughts, ideas or personal experiences in the area of academic freedom. By bringing together varied perspectives, this exchange will illuminate the complexities and shared stakes involved in upholding academic freedom.
Hidden Research: A Performance and Discussion on Academic Freedom is more than just an event; it is a call to action. It invites participants to reflect on the vital role of academic freedom in fostering innovation, critical thinking, and societal progress.
