ARS NOVA – “In Touch”

Ist Improvisation der Schlüssel für den Umgang mit einer ungewissen Zukunft? In einer Welt, die sich ständig verändert, reichen bekannte Antworten oft nicht mehr aus. Vielleicht brauchen wir nicht mehr Kontrolle, sondern die Fähigkeit, zuzuhören, gemeinsam zu handeln und kreativ auf das Unvorhersehbare zu reagieren.

ARS NOVA – IN TOUCH bringt Studierende des Jazz-Instituts Berlin und des Studiengangs Tanz der Universität der Künste Berlin zusammen, um genau diese Frage künstlerisch zu erforschen. Ausgehend von Originalkompositionen von Tobija Hudnik entsteht eine Performance, in der Musik und Tanz nicht nur aufgeführt, sondern im Moment erschaffen werden. Virtuose Soli treffen auf kollektive Improvisation, aus der neue musikalische und choreografische Formen in Echtzeit entstehen.

Improvisation wird dabei nicht nur als künstlerische Technik verstanden, sondern als menschliche Fähigkeit: Sie verlangt Vertrauen, Offenheit, gegenseitiges Zuhören und den Mut, unbekanntes Terrain zu betreten. Fähigkeiten, die weit über die Bühne hinaus Bedeutung haben.

Im Rahmen der Berlin Science Week und ihres diesjährigen Mottos „In Touch“ fragt ARS NOVA – IN TOUCH, welche Rolle die Kunst von morgen in einer Welt des Wandels spielen kann. Kann Kunst Menschen dabei helfen, Unsicherheit nicht als Bedrohung, sondern als Möglichkeit zu begreifen? Kann sie neue Formen des Zusammenlebens und Zusammenarbeitens erfahrbar machen?

ARS NOVA – IN TOUCH ist mehr als ein Konzert oder eine Tanzperformance. Es ist eine Einladung, die Kunst der Zukunft zu erleben – und darüber nachzudenken, wie Kreativität, Improvisation und gemeinsames Handeln unsere Gesellschaft verändern können.

Is improvisation the key to navigating an uncertain future? In a world that is constantly changing, familiar answers are often no longer enough. Perhaps what we need is not more control, but the ability to listen, act together, and respond creatively to the unexpected.

ARS NOVA – IN TOUCH brings together students from the Jazz Institute Berlin and the Dance Department of the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) to explore this question through artistic practice. Starting from original compositions by Tobija Hudnik, the performance unfolds in real time as music and dance are not merely performed but created in the moment. Virtuosic solo improvisations meet collective creation, giving rise to new musical and choreographic forms before the audience's eyes.

Improvisation is understood not only as an artistic technique, but as a deeply human capacity. It requires trust, openness, attentive listening, and the courage to step into the unknown—qualities that reach far beyond the stage.

Presented as part of Berlin Science Week under this year's theme, "In Touch," ARS NOVA – IN TOUCH asks what role the art of tomorrow can play in a rapidly changing world. Can art help us embrace uncertainty rather than fear it? Can it inspire new ways of living, collaborating, and responding to the challenges of our time?
