Zeno Gries

Zeno Gries has an open-ended and collaborative approach to artistic work. Their current practice explores the equivalences between techno-capitalism and magical narratives in order to bring the ideologies behind digital technologies to light. Having learned to code even before their artistic education, they now see themselves as a citizen of the borderlands between artistic and technological practice. Their approach often leads them to collaborate with scholars, artists from various disciplines, and non-humans. They primarily work with film, video, and software. Recent fellowships and grants include the talent film development scholarship by the Kuratorium junger deutscher Film, a residency at UmArts, Umeå, Sweden, and a scholarship as Styria-Artist-in-Residence in Graz, Austria.
