She received her Ph.D. from Princeton University and completed her postdoctoral work at MIT. She received the DoD Visionary Postdoctoral Fellowship for her postdoctoral studies. She started her research laboratory at MSU in 2015. Dr. Lunt has received a number of grants and awards including: NIH NCI R01, NSF CAREER award, Metabolomics Association Young Investigator Award, AACR NextGen Grant, DoD Breakthrough Award, METAvivor Early Career Investigator Award, MSU NatSci Teacher-Scholar Award, and the Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Teaching Award. She has publications in top journals including Nature, Molecular Cell, and Cancer Cell. Her laboratory focuses on understanding the role of metabolism in supporting cancer proliferation, heterogeneity, and metastasis as well as improving photodynamic therapy. Dr. Lunt and her team combine mass spectrometry, cell biology, luminescent agents, and genetic models of cancer to investigate this complex disease and develop new therapeutics.
