Sofia Boarino is an artist and researcher with a background in architecture. Her interdisciplinary practice bridges art and scientific inquiry, bringing together neuroscience, bioacoustics, light studies and biology within a body of work that spans metaphotography, immersive large-scale installations, sound art and performance. Her research explores the relationship between sound, light, space and perception, investigating how physical and sensory phenomena shape embodied experience, revealing the invisible dimensions of reality.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, at the Bauhaus Dessau and with the Madworkshop Foundation in Los Angeles, and she has performed sound-based works in international contexts such as Zurich Design Weeks and Milano Design Week. Her work has been featured in several publications including FRAME, e-flux, Espazium, Il Giornale dell’Arte and Elle Decor. Alongside her artistic practice, she lectures internationally at institutions such as ETH Zurich, IUAV Venice and PULSE-GLSN India.
