Dr. Severin Fischer is an accomplished policy expert with extensive experience across European and German governmental and research institutions. He began his career at the Institut für Europäische Politik (IEP) in Berlin before moving to the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik, German Institute for International and Security Affairs. Dr. Fischer then served at ETH Zurich's Center for Security Studies , focusing on security policy. From 2018, he held senior roles at Germany’s Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women, and Youth (BMFSFJ), first as Head of the Directorate-General and later as Deputy Head of Department. Following a tenure as Head of the Senate Chancellery, Dr. Fischer was appointed State Secretary for Economy, Energy, and Public Enterprises in April 2023.
