Rosa Ferré is co-director of TBA21 Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary, one of the leading international foundations for art, environmental and social justice, and advocacy. The foundation works from the TBA21 Collection and develops an ambitious program of exhibitions, public engagement in diverse formats, and pedagogical initiatives. TBA21 is based in Madrid, where it operates in partnership with the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, and has other significant poles of action: Venice with Ocean Space, its transdisciplinary center of culture, and Portland, in Jamaica.
In 2011, the foundation established the TBA21 Academy, a research arm that fosters a deeper relationship with the ocean and broad ecologies through art to inspire care and action. Since then, the Academy has acted as an incubator for collaborative investigations, artistic production, and climate action, catalyzing new forms of knowledge emerging from exchanges between art, science, politics, and conservation.
