Kamelija Horvatović is a medical doctor and molecular biologist currently pursuing her PhD at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin (2025–2028) and conducting research at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC-BIMSB) in Berlin in the research group of Dr. Melissa Birol.

Her research focuses on molecular and cellular mechanisms relevant to neuroscience and neurodegenerative disease, including protein spreading, cellular communication and neuronal biology. Her current research has contributed to studies investigating tau and α-synuclein, with two preprints published in 2026.
