Australian-born, Berlin-based Joseph Marr is a visual artist & DJ whose work explores connection, participation and the ways we experience ourselves and each other.

As an artist, Marr works across sculpture, painting, photography and video, often using unexpected materials and collaborative processes to create work that invites people in rather than keeping them at a distance. His monumental sugar sculpture “Together”, permanently installed at Berghain since 2013, explores desire, attachment and togetherness, while his public artwork Open Heart (2024) relied on the participation of the community itself to keep an 800 kg anatomical human heart made of sugar alive.

Alongside his visual practice, music and club culture have been a constant thread. Marr spent ten years with several residencies DJing clubs and warehouse parties in Australia and has continued to play in Berlin (Kanitine am Berghain) and Sydney (House of Mince), moving freely through disco, house and techno.
