Gamze Güney is a neuroscientist fascinated by how our brains make sense of temperature — something so familiar, yet surprisingly understudied. After completing her Bachelor’s in Biosciences and her Master’s in Medical Neurosciences, she became a PhD student in the Poulet Lab at the Max Delbrück Center, where she is now in her fifth year. Her project combines microscope-based experiments in mice with computational analyses to reveal how temperature-sensitive neurons encode information. Outside of research, you’ll most likely find her climbing, taking care of her plants, or playing with her cats.
