Graduated in Agronomic Engineering from Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz – ESALQ-USP (1993), Master in Genetics and Plant Breeding from Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz - ESALQ-USP (1997), “Sandwish” PhD in Molecular Biology - University Of Manchester Institute Of Science And Technology – UMIST (1999) and in Genetics and Plant Breeding at Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz (2001) and Post-Doc (Visiting Researcher) at the University of Warwick (2015 - 2017) in Genomics and Crop Evolution.
Since 2002 he is a PhD researcher at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation, where he works mainly in the area of In Situ and On Farm conservation of genetic resources within indigenous communities.
Since 1997 works within indigenous group and has experience and contributed for the firsts authorizations to work, access traditional knowledge and benefits sharing (obtain two of the firsts authorizations based in the 2001 Brazilian legislation).
He has experience in Genetics, with emphasis on Domestication and Evolution of Plants, working mainly on the following topics: evolution, archeology, conservation of genetic resources, maize, peanuts, cassava, indigenous populations, cultural tradition, ethnobotany and genetics.
