Elmar Kulke

Prof. Dr. Elmar Kulke is Professor for economic geography at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin Berlin. His area of research is the structure, developments, actors and interactions in commodity chains on the national and global dimension. During the last years especially commodity chains of fresh fruits and vegetables were the main focus; a recent project analyses the "food-systems" - understood as interactions between production, distribution, retail and consumption - in small independent island states. They face specific challenges in an adequate supply of the population.
