Carmen Leicht-Scholten

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Carmen Leicht-Scholten, a political scientist by training, is the Director of the Responsible Research and Innovation Hub at RWTH Aachen University, where she holds the Chair of Gender and Diversity in Engineering (GDE). The bridging professorship is based at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and she also has a second seat at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Her work aims to strengthen interdisciplinary communication and exchange between technology and society by investigating gender in engineering and technology research and innovation from an intersectional science and technology studies perspective. The goal is to integrate gender and diversity perspectives into the broader field of science and technology research to realize socially responsible innovations and technologies. She acts as an expert in many national and international research projects and associations, and sits on various scientific and business association boards to promote gendered perspectives in science and technology.
