You can find Anushka either nose-deep in popular fantasy novels or figuring out the best equations for fitting a titration curve. She completed her Masters in Biotechnology from St. Xavier's College Kolkata, after which chasing her dreams of pursuing structural biology she came to do her PhD in Berlin. Now in-between a quarter life crisis that most PhD students can relate to, she designs semi-artificial heme proteins with the noble goal of reducing CO2 from the atmosphere. She's heard it's as hard as slaying a dragon (not nearly as exciting as riding one)! She uses biochemical and biophysical methods which she combines with X-ray crystallography to mechanistically study and then improve the heme proteins she works with. She is always excited to talk about her science, especially to make it more relatable for the general audience (Muggles), because with the right talks, we can all be (science) wizards! ;)
