Winner of the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics, Alain Aspect is a French physicist who is internationally recognised for his pioneering work in quantum physics. He is a professor at the Ecole Polytechnique and an affiliated professor at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris-Saclay. He is also a professor at the Institut d'Optique Graduate School-Université Paris Saclay. He was awarded the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics (alongside John F. Clauser and Anton Zeilinger) for his work on Bell inequalities, which paved the way for computer science and quantum cryptography.

After graduating in engineering from ENS, Alain Aspect pursued a doctorate in physics at Université Paris-Sud under the supervision of Claude Cohen-Tannoudji, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1997. Alain Aspect is also a member of the Académie des Sciences and has received numerous international awards, including the CNRS Gold Medal and the Wolf Prize in Physics.
