Abror Gafurov is a senior water resources expert and hydrologist focusing on Central Asia. His recent research activities are dedicated to the field of climate change impact on water resources, long short-term hydrological forecasting, and climate change adaptation in Central Asia. Moreover, he has a strong experience in monitoring and modeling the cryosphere of Central Asia, for which he also developed the MODSNOW-Tool that can be applied for operational monitoring of cryosphere and water resources in Central Asia and beyond. Dr. Gafurov has been involved in various international projects focusing on water and climate in Central Asia. He authored and co-authored more than 25 ISI-publications in the climate change and water resources field in Central Asia. Dr. Gafurov is affiliated with Potsdam, Germany's GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences. He is also a lecturer at the Humboldt University in Berlin and lead scientist at the GFZ Spin-off Innovative Water & Environmental Solutions. Moreover, Abror Gafurov is a working group leader of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences and executive editor of the Central Asian Journal of Water Research.
