Falling Walls Engage Hub Kenya
Bringing together science engagement communities from around the world, fostering collaboration across disciplines and regions.
Hub focus
Engage Hub Kenya was launched in March 2020 with the goal of advancing research leadership and science engagement across Africa with a dedicated focus on supporting women scholars. Working at the intersection of academic capacity building and public discourse, the hub strengthens the visibility, influence and impact of African women researchers in national, regional and global conversations.
Key priority areas
In addition to supporting the work of women scholars and amplifying their voices in academic discourse, the Hub’s activities centre on making science accessible and engaging through diverse formats. Central to the Hub’s discussions include themes such as planetary health, climate change and the relationship between human behaviour, ecosystems and livelihoods. The Hub and its community also promote conversations around equity in science, supporting knowledge exchange between researchers, media professionals and the wider public.
Local relevance
As one of the leading African countries in climate-related research and the first in Africa to implement dedicated climate change legislation through the Climate Change Act (2016), Kenya provides an important context for exploring both the challenges and opportunities related to planetary health in Eastern Africa. The Hub reflects this by highlighting local research, regional perspectives and community-driven approaches to urgent climate issues.
About the Hub
Location and network
