Towards a Future Powered by Daylight

Daylight Academy

Daylight – so obvious we often forget it's essential. Discover how it shapes a healthy, sustainable today and tomorrow. Step into a future lit by the sun!

Often taken for granted, daylight is a free and abundant resource with the power to influence far more than just temperature and our vision. It plays a crucial role in our health, the rhythms of nature, the sustainability of our cities, and the way we build, work, and live together.

At our booth, you will explore the many dimensions of daylight through informative displays, thought-provoking questions, and interactive activities. We will invite you to contribute your own ideas, determine your chronotype – whether you tend to be an early bird or a night owl, and even help us imagine futures that harness the enormous potential of daylight.

The booth will welcome you throughout three days, from 7 to 9 November, and a special and different activity will be offered each day.

On Saturday, 8 November, you are invited to take part in:

Bright future: Kids Imagine with Daylight:  A participatory workshop for young children
From 12:00 to 14:00

What could our future look like? And what role will daylight play in shaping it?

Join us for a playful exploration of how daylight can shape our future. Together with the children, our future thinkers, we’ll turn their visions into sunlight-printed art, experiment with light at a sensory play table, and discover the magic of natural light through hands-on activities.

Come and explore, play, and create; and help us reimagine a brighter, more sustainable future.

Event initiated and organised by Aicha Diakite-Kortlever (Technische Universität Berlin) in collaboration with Jemima Unwin Teji (University College London).

Special activities on the other days:

  • Friday, 7 November: Look Up: Skygazing Citizen Action | Learn more
  • Sunday, 9 November: Imagining Future Solar Societies | Learn more
