Kohli Foundation for Sociology Award Ceremony 2026

Kohli Foundation for Sociology

Celebrate this year's Kohli Prize and Infrastructure Prize for Sociology laureates and hear Raewyn Connell speak in Berlin.

The Kohli Foundation for Sociology honors two outstanding contributions to the discipline.

The 2026 Kohli Prize is awarded to Raewyn Connell, a pioneer in the sociology of masculinities, whose work has influenced generations of researchers. The award ceremony offers a special opportunity to attend a lecture by the Australia-based researcher in Berlin.

The event also recognizes the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP), one of the largest and longest-running multidisciplinary household surveys worldwide. As a leading force in supporting the quality, originality, significance, and rigor of sociological research and a role model for data collection and analysis, it is being awarded the Infrastructure Prize for Sociology.

The program includes the award ceremony, laudatory speeches, a public lecture by Raewyn Connell, and a reception with drinks and snacks. Whether you are a sociologist, social scientist, student, PhD candidate, or simply interested in how societies are studied, the evening offers the chance to celebrate outstanding contributions to sociology, hear from one of the field's leading scholars, and meet colleagues and guests in an informal setting.

The next day, November 4, Sabine Zinn, Director of SOEP, will give a Lunch Lecture. For more information and to register, please see the separate event.
