City Within: What happens in your brain when you enter a city?

Have you ever wondered why some cities make you feel stressed, while others leave you feeling calm and at ease?
Step inside a dome projection and experience a series of simulated urban environments while your brain activity is measured in real time. Discover how your brain responds to different cityscapes.
At the end of the experience, you’ll receive a visual artwork created from your very own brainwaves — a personalised digital representation of how your brain responded to the city.
Hosted by the Mobility Mindscape Team, Max Schwitalla, Sergey Prokofyev and Prateep Beed at Studio Schwitalla, in collaboration with EDGE Neuroscience and Art.
Event programme
- 10am–6pm: EEG Urban Landscape Experience (drop-in)
- 6–6:20pm: Talk by the Mobility Mindscape Team and EDGE Neuroscience and Art
- 6:30–7pm: Networking
- Free entry.
- The installation operates on a drop-in basis. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Each experience takes approximately 15 minutes.
- Participants will sit inside an immersive dome and wear a non-invasive EEG headset. No prior experience is required.
- Wheelchair accessible.
