The Beauty of Marine Organisms and their Application in Technology, Architecture and Art

The AWI Team of Bio - inspired Lightweight Design shows its latest developments of its research, including fascinating marine organisms, technical developments, architecture and art. It combines basic research on marine organisms with applied research and product development. It has already carried out 100 projects and product developments with international and local partners from science and industry. This has resulted in numerous publications in renowned journals as well as over 60 theses and public and specialist lectures. In 2018, the team spun off Synera GmbH, a software company that now has over 70 employees. For 20 years, the department has participated in exhibitions in the fields of science and technology as well as education and art, including the 2005 Federal Horticultural Show in Munich, the Hannover Messe (8 times between 2003-2022), Berlin Science Week 2023.
