After his B.A. and M.A. in physical chemistry from the University of Bonn with a focus on electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy, Simon is now a PhD candidate working in instrumental analytics.

His research focuses on new analytical tools in the realm of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) for various use-cases. For example, developing a vacuum-UV LIBS prototype to integrate LIBS into the production of sustainable, hydrogen-reduced steel. Additionally, he is involved in research projects dealing with the recycling of lithium-ion batteries.
