Rodrigo Huerta-Gutiérrez

Rodrigo Huerta-Gutierrez is a Mexican physician and epidemiologist whose work bridges clinical medicine, public health, and climate science. After training in medicine at UNAM and earning a Master of Public Health at Harvard, he has worked across Mexico, the US, and Germany on questions ranging from cancer survival and healthcare-associated infections to the impact of universal healthcare coverage, including a project recognized with Mexico's National Epidemiology Award. He is currently a PhD researcher at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, where he applies predictive modelling and causal inference methods to clinical trial data in neurology, and a Research Associate at the Climate, Aging, and Relationships (CARE) Lab at Brandenburg Medical School Theodor Fontane, studying how extreme weather and social risk factors like loneliness affect healthy aging in older adults. Alongside his research, he mentors students and is committed to translating scientific evidence for policymakers and the public alike.
