Melanie Generali

Dr Melanie Generali is a scientist specialising in regenerative medicine, stem cell biology and tissue engineering. She is Head of the iPSC Core Facility and Head of Cell and Tissue Engineering at the Institute for Regenerative Medicine (IREM), University of Zurich, where she leads research on induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes and the development of next-generation cell therapies. Her work bridges fundamental research and clinical translation, with a particular focus on advancing regenerative approaches for cardiovascular diseases.

Alongside leading national and international research projects, Dr Generali teaches regenerative medicine and stem cell applications at the University of Zurich and contributes to international collaborations in stem cell research and gene editing technologies. Her work has been recognised with several awards, including the University of Zurich 3R Award, and she is committed to making cutting-edge biomedical research accessible across disciplines.
