Manuel Flurin Hendry is an award-winning film director, screenwriter, lecturer and artistic researcher born and based in Zurich, Switzerland. His work as a filmmaker cuts across genres and formats, from political drama to family entertainment for screens both big and small.
Hendry teach cinematic arts at the Zurich University of the Arts where he coordinates the Screen Acting program, and at the International Film School Cologne. As a researcher at ETH Zurich with a PhD in Dramaturgy, he lectures on AI, algorithmic literacy and the socio-technical impact of Large Language Models. At the nexus between art and science, his team investigates the impact of digital systems on self-perception, visual education and artistic practice in ongoing collaborations with Babelsberg Film University, Residenztheater Munich, HKAPA Hongkong and the international association of film and media schools CILECT.
Hendry is a member of the Swiss Film Academy and serves as the principal investigator of the «cineMINDS» project. As a founding fellow of the cultural association «Silicon Stories» and the Swiss Center for Responsible AI, he helps spread algorithmic literacy through workshops, art interventions and the art/science festival «After The Algorithm».
