Elena Mijares (she/her) is a student assistant in the research group "Digitalization and Opening up Science" at the Weizenbaum Institute, where she supports research on bias, inclusivity, and ethical accountability in generative AI systems within scientific contexts. She is particularly interested in how digital systems can reinforce social disparities, approaching these questions through feminist perspectives.

Alongside her work at the institute, she contributes to another research project on government responses to VAW, where she develops automated data collection approaches to extract sensitive data.

She is currently completing a Master's in Data Science for Public Policy at the Hertie School in Berlin, with a background in Social Sciences from the University of Cologne.

In her free time, she does yoga, practices handcrafts, and enjoys reading Latin American literature.💫
