Conflict Zones of Freedom: How to Communicate Migration, Climate Politics and AI
How can we communicate tricky topics in media and beyond when opinions often seem to find a wider echo than scientific facts? When it comes to issues such as migration, climate change or artificial intelligence, airy assumptions and misinformation, fuelled by heated online debates, can dominate public perceptions. And while there are many channels to communicate, more information does not necessarily mean better information. So, what are effective ways of putting science in the driving seat? And how can science and media work together to foster informed societies? Participants and mentors of the Communication Lab #9, a project run by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the International Journalists’ Programmes, will share their insights on how to deal with complexity, bias and insecurities in research communication, and invite the audience to engage in a lively exchange about successful strategies for science in media.
