Tim Urban

Seit 2023 verantwortet Dr. Tim Urban die interne und externe Kommunikation der Leibniz-Gemeinschaft. Zuvor war er u. a. an der Technischen Universität Ilmenau, der Max Weber Stiftung und dem Kunsthistorischen Institut in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut in unterschiedlichen Positionen im Bereich Wissenschaftskommunikation tätig. Tim Urban studierte Kunstgeschichte, Klassische Archäologie und Betriebswirtschaftslehre in Trier und Tübingen und wurde an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin promoviert. Berufsbegleitend absolvierte er ein Aufbaustudium zum Kommunikationsmanager. Seine Arbeitsfelder umfassen die strategische Wissenschaftskommunikation, Public Relations sowie die Entwicklung dialogorientierter Formate an der Schnittstelle zwischen Wissenschaft, Politik und Öffentlichkeit.  

Since 2023 Dr. Tim Urban has been responsible for internal and external communication for the Leibniz Society. Prior to this he held various positions in Science Communication at institutions including the technical University of Ilmenau, the Max Weber Foundation and the Art-History Institute of the Max Planck in Florence. Tim Urban studied art history, classical archaeology and business administration in Trier and Tübingen, and earned his PhD from the Humboldt University in Berlin. Whilst working he completed a postgraduate degree to become a communication manager. His areas of expertise include strategic science communication, public relations, as well as the development of dialogue-oriented formats at the intersection of science, politics and the public.
