Sunil Manghani is Professor of Theory, Practice and Critique, Department of Design at University of Southampton, a Research Fellow of The Alan Turing Institute (and an organiser of the Turing’s AI & Arts group), and co-founder of Electronic Life Research Studio, a collective working with the advances of artificial intelligence for the social good. He led a year-long public programme at Tate Britain, curating participatory projects on AI and creativity and is working with partners in India, including the Kochi Biennale and Jindal Global University, to advance AI-based techniques for democratising cultural heritage and creative practices. He is managing editor of Theory, Culture & Society, and Co-Editor of Journal of Visual Art Practice. His books include Image Studies; Zero Degree Seeing; India’s Biennale Effect; and Farewell to Visual Studies. He curated Barthes/Burgin at the John Hansard Gallery, and Building an Art Biennale and Itinerant Objects at Tate Exchange, Tate Modern.
